Kelsey Zellmer RN, IBCLC
Kelsey serves as our “baby nurse” getting to know each little one who enters our doors to be evaluated for frenectomy and provides a source of support to all mom/baby dads through the process whether breast or bottle feeding. We collaborate not only as a team in the office, but also with other local providers to create an individualized plan of care to achieve the best outcomes for you and your little one.
Kelsey grew up and currently lives in McKinney with her husband and three young children. From a young age, Kelsey had an innate passion for infant care and development. She worked as a nanny throughout college specializing in newborn/infant care which then led to a career as a postpartum (mom/baby) RN and IBCLC. She spent 8yrs working on night shift supporting new mothers and witnessed the great need for a more holistic approach to caring for the mom/baby “dad”. Kelsey believes a mother must feel safe, supported, and have her own basic needs met in order to be able to best care for her little one. For this reason, in her practice, Kelsey seeks to go beyond basic lactation support and help each mom find her own “village of support” to walk alongside her through little ones first year of life and beyond!
Kelsey became interested in becoming “airway” knowledgeable after learning about the full effects oral restrictions, “ties”, can have on not only breastfeeding but also on the overall health and development of children over a lifespan, and seeing these issues already developing in each of her three children. Through her own “village of support” she was connected with Dr. Damon and Dr. Loria and dove in headfirst with the shared passion of wanting to learn all she could to help the moms and babies she served, hoping to save them from some of the struggles her own little ones were facing. A beautiful collaborative was formed.
